Home of Trophy Trout

Guide: Alistair PurveyHighland Trout Lakes is a private trout fishery in the Ballarat area that consists of four lakes on the one property. The lakes are designed with fishing points so as to fish shallow and deep. The fishery covers some 32 hectares over a combination of cleared land and eucalypt forest. The four lakes cover a serious 7 hectares and all offer their own subtle challenges. The lakes contain both brown and rainbow trout, all of which are bred in the private hatchery.

Many of the shores of this flyfishing, catch and release only, fishery have been designed with plenty of cleared areas to allow for unobstructed casting. Substantial vegetation and spring fed areas combine to create a pristine water quality that allows polarising in almost all conditions.

Guide: John Wardle
