The Lakes

Highland Lakes front lakeThe Lakes are fishable all year round and there is no closed season or fishing licence required. The 'trout food' however varies throughout the seasons requiring the angler to adapt to their environment.
During the spring/autumn months the area is well known for it's mayfly hatches.

Aerial view

The lakes produce great dun hatches and large trout are often caught out sipping down dun imitations during these periods.
In summer you will find dragon flies, damsel flies, beetles, grasshoppers, termites and ant hatches on the menu. In winter midge, snails and fish smelting.
So no matter what the season there are fish here feeding waiting to be caught. View Map of the lakes
